The following entries (from beginning runner to half marathon finisher) represents a continuing journey of tremendous grief and sorrow, and of transformation - largely through the therapeutic power of running. The sorrow that has broken my heart open wide has in time allowed me to experience the beauty of being in the present moment. And of course, without the support of family and friends to guide me, I would not have made it this far.

If you have lost someone in your life, I offer these words and verse (some Kristy's, some mine and others) with the hope it may touch your heart and help you heal.

HER GIFT

Kristy, Suzanne and Laurissa celebrate life

I look for you and seek you out
In tangled lines of thought
Your presence was my string of pearls
Your beauty left no doubt

I find it strange to be without
Your sweet beguiling ways
Condemned to walk without you here
What’s left of my todays

Yet when I hear your voice in me
And remember how you laughed
At anything and everything
That didn’t need to be

I want to keep this piece of you
And never let depart
The truth that life’s most precious gift
Is loving with one’s whole heart
